Great suction and clean
This new V8 model has improved suction yet lightweight to manoeuvre. It is easy to empty and easy to use. You can easily see how much fluff is gathering in the chamber, although I tend to empty after each use. Love this stick vaccuum. I would recommend it.

At a glance
The Dyson V8 Cyclone Cordless Vacuum is a lightweight bagless stick vacuum suited to households wanting easy everyday cleaning without a cord. It handles hard floors and carpets, is simple to carry at 2.7 kg, and includes handy storage with a wall dock. A key limitation is its 0.54 L bin, which may need more frequent emptying during bigger cleans.
What it’s great for
- Everyday floor cleaning
- Quick touch-ups
- Cord-free cleaning
- Mixed floor homes
- Apartment living
Where it works best
- Apartments
- Small to medium homes
- Multi-surface living areas
- Bedrooms
- Hallways
Who it’s for
- Busy households
- Apartment dwellers
- Everyday home cleaners
- People wanting a lightweight vacuum
Things to consider
The 0.54 L bin is compact, so it may need more frequent emptying than larger or more specialised cordless vacuums.
Pet hair performance score
7/10 - strong everyday suction should help with loose pet hair, but no dedicated pet tool is specified.
Carpet vs hard floor suitability
Well suited to both hard floors and carpets for general day-to-day cleaning.
Portability rating
9/10 - cordless design and 2.7 kg weight make it easy to carry, move and store.
Noise level vs category average
Not stated
Allergy friendliness
Moderate - bagless operation is convenient, but no HEPA or sealed filtration claim is provided.
Key benefits
- Cordless Design: Lets you clean from room to room without being limited by a power cord.
- Lightweight Build: At 2.7 kg, it is easier to carry, manoeuvre and store than heavier full-size vacuums.
- Bagless Bin: The 0.54 L dust bin empties quickly, so you can get back to cleaning with less fuss.
- Multi-Surface Cleaning: Designed to handle both hard floors and carpets for everyday whole-home use.
- Crevice Tool Included: Helps you reach tighter corners, edges and narrow spaces more easily.
- Wall Dock Storage: Keeps the vacuum stored neatly and ready to access between cleans.
- Included Charger: Comes with the charger in the box, so you have what you need to get started.
- 2 Year Manufacturer Warranty: Adds extra peace of mind for ongoing home use.
Q: Is the Dyson V8 better for quick cleans or whole-house sessions
A: Dyson V8 Cyclone is better suited to regular quick cleans and routine whole-home tidying than long, uninterrupted deep cleans. The 0.54 litre bin is practical for everyday dust and debris, but larger homes may need more frequent emptying.
Q: Can this vacuum pick up pet hair from carpet and rugs
A: Yes. Dyson V8 Cyclone has strong suction and a Motorbar cleaner head, so it is well suited to routine pet hair pickup on carpets and rugs. For heavy shedding across a larger home, the smaller 0.54 litre bin can mean extra emptying mid-clean.
Q: Does the Dyson V8 use a trigger or an on off button
A: Dyson V8 Cyclone uses an on off button rather than a trigger, so it keeps running without needing constant finger pressure. That suits longer passes on floors or stairs, but battery use still depends on the suction mode selected for the job.
Q: Can I mount the Dyson V8 on a wall for charging
A: Yes. Dyson V8 Cyclone includes a wall dock and charger, so it can be stored neatly and charged between uses. A wall mount suits homes short on floor space, but the dock position needs to be convenient for lifting the vacuum on and off.
Q: Will carrying the Dyson V8 upstairs feel manageable
A: Yes. At 2.7 kilograms, Dyson V8 Cyclone is light enough to carry between levels and use on stairs without a cord trailing behind. It is still a stick vacuum rather than a compact handheld, so tighter spots may need the crevice tool fitted.
