Incredibly powerful!
We have a Dyson Stick Vacuum and decided we wanted to upgrade our old Ball vacuum also. Best decision as this vacuum pulled so much dirt from our carpets and lounge and our hard floors were left spotless. The attachments are perfect for all the tricky spots! The house felt cleaner immediately!

Awesome Ball
I purchased this product following extensive research on the web, I have not been disappointed, the machine is light in weight, very easy to maneuver and the suction is amazing. I have a very tidy house, but the dust it collected on the first vacuum was incredible. The bagless feature is a bonus, a little tricky to open to empty, otherwise I would definitely recommend this product. I'm very happy with my purchase.

Great vacuum Dyson big ball bagless
Works so good I vacuumed with my old vacuum and then run the Dyson over the same carpet and I was shocked at how much more came out of the carpet. Only thing is the clip that holds the lid being a small piece of plastic may not hold up

At a glance
The Dyson Big Ball Absolute Bagless Barrel Vacuum is a premium barrel vacuum for homes needing strong cleaning across hard floors, carpets and upholstery. Its self-righting body, large bin and long articulated wand make everyday cleaning easier and more flexible. It is best for buyers who want versatile tools and bagless convenience. One limitation is that it is not designed for wet cleaning or pet-specific deep hair pickup.

Things to consider
This model is versatile for general household cleaning, but it is not a wet and dry vacuum and is not specifically positioned as a pet-focused cleaner compared with specialist pet models.
Pet hair performance score
6/10 - Includes a tangle-free turbine tool and upholstery tools, but it is not specifically marketed as pet friendly.
Large home suitability
8/10 - Large bin and long-reach wand suit broader cleaning tasks with fewer stops to empty.
Carpet vs hard floor fit
Well suited to both carpet and hard floors
Noise level rating
6/10 - No low-noise claim is provided, so expect typical barrel vacuum operating noise.
Portability rating
7/10 - Barrel format is easy to manoeuvre and the self-righting design helps, though it is not wall mountable or a lightweight stick model.
Key benefits
- Self-righting design: The vacuum picks itself up if toppled, helping reduce interruptions while cleaning.
- 2 Tier Radial cyclones: Delivers strong suction for effective pickup across different floor types.
- Hygienic bin emptying: Lets you eject trapped dust and debris with a button press, so there is less contact with dirt.
- Large capacity bin: Holds more dirt and debris, so you can clean for longer before emptying.
- Long reach wand: Extends up to 125 cm to help clean ceilings, corners and other awkward spots.
- 360° articulating handle: Rotates in three directions for better control around furniture and tight spaces.
- Bagless design: Removes the need to buy replacement vacuum bags.
- No filters to wash or replace: Reduces regular maintenance compared with vacuums that need filter cleaning or replacement.
Q: Is this vacuum a good choice for homes with pets?
A: Yes, it can handle pet hair on carpets, stairs and upholstery using the tangle-free turbine tool and stair-focused accessories. It is not listed as a pet-specific model, so the fit is broader whole-home cleaning rather than a dedicated pet range.
Q: Do I need to buy bags or replacement filters for it?
A: No. Dyson Big Ball Absolute is bagless, and its filters are designed so there are no dirty filters to wash or replace. That reduces ongoing consumables, but the bin still needs regular emptying when cleaning larger areas.
Q: Can I use it on wet messes or spills?
A: No. Dyson Big Ball Absolute is a dry vacuum, so it is designed for dust, dirt and debris rather than liquid spills. For kitchens, bathrooms or other wet messes, a cleaner specifically rated for wet use is the better fit.
Q: Which attachments are best for stairs, mattresses and hard floors?
A: For stairs and mattresses, this model includes a stair tool and mattress tool. For hard floors, it includes an articulating hard floor tool, while the soft dusting brush is better suited to lighter dusting on more delicate surfaces.
Q: Will the barrel keep moving if it tips over?
A: Yes. Dyson Big Ball Absolute self-rights when toppled, so you can keep cleaning without stopping to stand the vacuum back up. That helps around furniture and corners, though it is still a full-size barrel vacuum rather than a compact handheld.
Q: Does it mount on the wall like a stick vacuum?
A: No. This is a barrel vacuum and it is not wall mountable, so it needs floor or cupboard storage rather than dock-style storage. That matters if you want a vacuum kept out for quick access between larger whole-home cleans.
