Dream machine
This vacuum cleaner is very quiet and does a good job of cleaning the house. It takes a bit of time to get use to get and it’s capabilities. I still have to use the mop mode. I find it goes offline but that could be a problem with our modem. You need to have it close to the modem. Overall I’m very happy with it.

At a glance
The Dreame L40 Plus is a smart robot vacuum and mop built for pet hair, mixed flooring and larger homes. Its key strengths are strong 13000Pa suction, HEPA filtration, app and voice control, and long 155-minute runtime. It is best for users who want capable automated cleaning with less frequent maintenance. One limitation is that it lacks some of the advanced premium automation features found in top-tier specialist models.

Allergy friendliness
Good - HEPA filtration and a bagged dust system help contain fine particles during cleaning and disposal.
Key benefits
- 13000Pa Suction: Delivers strong pickup power for dust, debris and pet hair across hard floors, tiles and carpets.
- HEPA Filtration: Helps capture fine particles for cleaner exhaust air and improved day-to-day indoor air quality.
- 5200mAh Battery: Supports up to 155 minutes of runtime for longer cleaning sessions across larger homes.
- 4L Clean Water Tank: Supports extended mopping sessions with less frequent refilling.
- Bagged Dust System: Helps reduce mess during emptying and can be more convenient for users who prefer contained dust disposal.
- 9.7cm Profile: Fits under many beds and sofas to clean areas that are harder to reach with a full-size vacuum.
- Restricted Area Detection: Lets you set cleaning boundaries to avoid unwanted zones and protect delicate spaces.
- Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit Support: Gives you flexible hands-free control across major smart home ecosystems.
Q: Does the dock wash and dry the mop pads automatically?
A: No. The Dreame L40 Plus handles vacuuming and mopping, but it is not listed with automatic mop-pad washing or drying. Buyers wanting less hands-on dock maintenance may prefer a model with those dock functions built in.
Q: Will it fit under beds, sofas, and low furniture?
A: Yes, in many homes. The vacuum unit is 9.7 cm high, so it can clean under a lot of beds and sofas where taller robot vacuums may miss, though very low furniture still needs more clearance than that.
Q: How often do you need to empty the Dreame L40 Plus?
A: Not very often for routine cleaning. The dock uses a 4 L bag and the robot carries a 350 ml dust compartment, so debris is transferred off the unit instead of needing onboard emptying after most runs.
Q: Is the mopping strong enough for dried-on marks and spills?
A: It is better suited to routine floor mopping than heavy scrubbing. The Dreame L40 Plus can mop and has a 4000 mL clean-water tank, but dried-on messes may still need a manual pass for a full clean.
Q: Can it handle pet hair on both carpet and hard floors?
A: Yes. Dreame L40 Plus is designed for homes with pets and mixed flooring, using 13000 Pa suction to lift hair, dust and debris. It is strongest for everyday cleaning rather than occasional deep carpet restoration.
Q: Can you set rooms or spots it should avoid?
A: Yes. Dreame L40 Plus includes restricted area detection, so you can set cleaning boundaries around places you do not want vacuumed or mopped. That is useful for pet areas, cords, or delicate floor sections.
Q: Is battery life enough for a larger home clean?
A: Yes, for many layouts. Dreame L40 Plus runs for up to 155 minutes per charge in lighter cleaning conditions, which suits multi-room sessions, but runtime will drop when suction is pushed harder or mopping is added.
