Does what it says on the tin.
Cools perfectly well, though a little bit noisy - not enough to be too annoying. Easy to setup and easy to use. If you are after a temporary cooling solution, then I would highly recommend this cooler. Buying it couldn't be easier, found it it the site, ordered it and it was delivered in a day or so.

Portability rating
7/10 - portable design suits room-to-room use, though 22.5kg means it is movable rather than lightweight.

5/10 - 65dB is typical for portable air conditioners but more noticeable than quieter premium options.

Q: Is this portable AC suitable for a large open-plan room?
A: No. Dimplex DCP33EB is sized for rooms around 23m2, so it is better for a bedroom, study or small living area than a larger open-plan space. In a bigger room, cooling will be slower and less even across the whole area.
Q: How noisy is the Dimplex DCP33EB in a bedroom at night?
A: Dimplex DCP33EB is rated at 65dB, which is typical for a portable air conditioner and noticeable in a quiet bedroom. It can still suit overnight use if you accept fan and compressor noise, but lighter sleepers may prefer a quieter type of unit.
Q: Does the Dimplex DCP33EB need to be vented through a window?
A: Yes. Dimplex DCP33EB includes a window kit and needs to be set up to vent while it is cooling, so it works best in a room with suitable window access. It is a non-permanent option, but it is not a vent-free air conditioner.
Q: Can it cool two rooms if the doors are left open?
A: No. Dimplex DCP33EB is designed for targeted cooling in one room rather than pushing cold air through multiple spaces. Leaving doors open can let cooled air escape, which usually makes it slower to bring the main room down to temperature.
Q: Will this portable air conditioner also work as a dehumidifier?
A: Yes. Dimplex DCP33EB has a dehumidifying function and can remove 1.2L of moisture per hour in damp conditions. That is useful for muggy rooms, but it is still a portable air conditioner first, not a whole-home moisture control solution.
Q: Does this Dimplex model have a heating mode as well?
A: No. Dimplex DCP33EB is a cooling-only portable air conditioner with a built-in dehumidifying function, not a reverse-cycle model. If heating is part of the brief, this unit will not cover winter use on its own.
Q: Is the Dimplex DCP33EB easy to move between rooms?
A: Yes. Dimplex DCP33EB can be moved between rooms, but at 22.5kg it is easier to roll on a flat floor than carry often. It suits homes where cooling needs shift by room, though stairs and frequent lifting are less convenient.
