Better than expected
Didn’t expect this heater to work so well especially the fan that helps to heat up the room much quicker. Highly recommended.

Chicken heater
Using in chicken coop to keep our chickens warm in bitter cold winter. Not using the fan as bedding on floor may get sucked into fan and catch fire, would be a disaster

Good, not able to register it
The column heater is very good, the positive is it does retain the heat, but it takes long time to sustain the temperature. Overall it is a good product. I am unable to register this product online.

At a glance
The Dimplex ECR24FA is a portable 2.4kW oil free column heater built for medium to larger rooms around 20 to 30 m². It suits households wanting faster warm-up than a standard column heater, with a turbo fan, thermostat and easy room-to-room mobility. Its key strengths are quick heat delivery, simple controls and lighter handling. The main limitation is that it uses basic manual controls rather than premium extras like timers or smart functions.
What it’s great for
- Heating medium to large rooms
- Fast warm-up
- Everyday winter heating
Where it works best
- Living Rooms
- Bedrooms
- Medium to Large Rooms
Who it’s for
- Homeowners
- Renters
- Families
Things to consider
Compared with more premium heaters, this model focuses on straightforward manual heating and does not mention extras such as a timer, remote control or smart connectivity.
Small room suitability
Good - suitable for small rooms, but best matched to medium to larger spaces up to around 30 m²
Energy efficiency score
6/10 - thermostat control can help avoid constant full-power heating, but no dedicated eco mode or energy rating is provided
Noise level vs category average
5/10 - likely a little louder than non-fan column heaters because the turbo fan adds airflow noise
Safety features score
5/10 - thermostat control and stable castor-mounted design support everyday use, but no advanced safety features are specified
Portability rating
8/10 - oil free construction, integrated handles and a castor kit make it easier to move than heavier oil-filled models
Key benefits
- 2.4kW Heating Output: Delivers strong heat for rooms around 20 to 30 m², making it practical for everyday lounge or bedroom use.
- Turbo Fan: Pushes warm air into the room faster than column heat alone so you feel comfortable sooner.
- Oil Free Design: Heats up quickly and is lighter to reposition than traditional oil-filled column heaters.
- Two Heat Settings: Lets you choose a lower or higher output to better match changing room conditions.
- Adjustable Thermostat: Cycles the heater on and off to help maintain your preferred room temperature.
- Integrated Handles: Makes it easier and safer to pick up and reposition the heater around the home.
- Castor Kit: Helps the heater roll more easily between rooms instead of needing to be fully carried.
- 7 Year Manufacturer's Warranty: Adds long-term peace of mind for regular seasonal use.
Q: Is this heater suitable for a large bedroom or living room?
A: Yes. Dimplex ECR24FA is designed for medium to larger rooms around 20 to 30 square metres, so it suits many larger bedrooms and living areas. In a more open space, heat can spread more slowly than in a closed room.
Q: Does the turbo fan make it noisier than a standard column heater?
A: Yes. The turbo fan pushes warm air into the room faster, but fan-assisted operation is usually more noticeable than radiant column heat alone. If low noise matters most, fan use is the main trade-off with this model.
Q: Will the oil free design cool down faster after switching off?
A: Yes. An oil free column heater warms up quickly, but it generally holds residual heat for less time once switched off than an oil-filled style. This model is better suited to active room heating than long heat retention after shutdown.
Q: Can the fan be switched off while the heater still runs?
A: Yes. Dimplex ECR24FA can be used as a column heater without relying on the turbo fan all the time. That gives the option of quieter radiant-style heating, though the room may take longer to feel evenly warmed.
Q: How easy is the ECR24FA to move between rooms?
A: Dimplex ECR24FA is easier to reposition than a heavier oil-filled column heater because the oil free design is lighter to handle. Integrated handles and the castor kit help with short moves around the home, rather than fixed placement.
