Chicken heater
Using in chicken coop to keep our chickens warm in bitter cold winter. Not using the fan as bedding on floor may get sucked into fan and catch fire, would be a disaster

Good, not able to register it
The column heater is very good, the positive is it does retain the heat, but it takes long time to sustain the temperature. Overall it is a good product. I am unable to register this product online.

At a glance
This 2.4kW oil-free column heater is a practical choice for households wanting faster warmth in medium to larger rooms. It suits bedrooms and living areas, with a turbo fan for quicker heat distribution, a thermostat for steady comfort, and castors for easier movement. Things to consider
The turbo fan helps the room feel warm sooner, but it may sound more noticeable than simpler column heaters that rely on quieter radiant heat alone.
Small room suitability
Good, but better suited to medium rooms; in small rooms it should warm the space quickly.
Energy efficiency score
6/10 - thermostat control can reduce unnecessary runtime, but no energy rating or specialised eco mode is specified.
Noise level vs category average
Slightly louder than average for column heaters due to the turbo fan.
Safety features score
5/10 - thermostat-based temperature control is useful, but no additional safety features are specified in the provided details.
Portability rating
8/10 - oil-free construction, integrated handles and castors make it easier to move than heavier oil-filled column heaters.
Key benefits
- 2.4kW Heating Output: Delivers strong heating performance for medium to larger rooms around 20 to 30 square metres.
- Oil-Free Design: Heats up quickly and is lighter to move than traditional oil-filled column heaters.
- Turbo Fan: Pushes warm air into the room faster so you feel comfortable sooner.
- Adjustable Thermostat: Helps maintain your preferred room temperature by cycling the heater on and off automatically.
- Two Heat Settings: Lets you choose a lower or higher heat output to better match changing room conditions.
- Portable Format: Integrated handles and a castor kit make it easier to reposition the heater around the home.
- Freestanding Column Design: Works well as a flexible heating option without requiring installation.
- 7 Year Manufacturer's Warranty: Adds long-term ownership confidence for regular winter use.
Q: How much electricity can this 2.4kW Dimplex heater use?
A: At the maximum setting, a 2.4kW heater uses 2.4kWh of electricity per hour. At an electricity rate of 30 cents per kWh, that is about 72 cents per hour, although the thermostat can cycle the element off once the room reaches temperature.
Q: Is this Dimplex oil free column heater suitable for overnight use?
A: It can regulate heat overnight using the thermostat, but portable heaters are generally best used with care and not left running unattended unless the manual specifically allows it. Keep clear space around the unit, especially when using the turbo fan.
Q: What does the oil free design change compared with a traditional oil column heater?
A: An oil free column heater typically warms up faster and is often lighter to move than an oil filled model. The trade-off is less stored residual heat after switch-off, so this Dimplex relies more on active heating and the turbo fan for quicker warmth.
Q: What does the turbo fan do on this Dimplex column heater?
A: The turbo fan helps push warm air into the room faster than radiant column heat alone. That can make the space feel comfortable sooner, especially in the first part of a heating cycle, but fan-assisted operation may be more noticeable than silent heat.
Q: Does the thermostat help reduce running costs on this heater?
A: Yes. The thermostat is designed to cycle the heater on and off around the selected room temperature instead of heating at full output the whole time. In practice, that can lower average energy use compared with running a fixed high setting continuously.
Q: What size room is a 2.4kW oil free column heater best suited to?
A: A 2.4kW portable heater is typically suited to a medium to larger room, around 20 to 30 square metres in average conditions. Actual performance depends on ceiling height, insulation, window area, and how much cold air enters the room.
