Perfect for Bedroom
This lovely little heater does a perfect job of heating the bedroom. It is very quiet and heats safely with the help of the thermostat. It also looks very stylish in Matt Bkack. Would definitely recommend!

Great Heater.
I did a lot of research on heaters to warm a small room with minimum electricity draw. With plenty of options the dimplex 1.5kwh non oil column heater came with many positives. Performance is really good and makes our kitchen comfortable with the help of the fan. Would recommend this heater as a suitable performer.

Does the job, I think a oil filled heater would be better, but I chose this one.

At a glance
This 1.5kW oil-free column heater is a practical option for heating small to medium rooms, especially bedrooms, studies and caravans. It warms up quickly, uses a turbo fan to spread heat faster, and is easy to move thanks to its light design, handles and castors. It suits buyers wanting simple, portable warmth at a sensible price. The main limitation is that it is best for spaces up to 15 m², not larger open areas.

Things to consider
This model is designed for rooms up to 15 m², so it is less suitable than higher-output or more feature-rich heaters for large living spaces or whole-room heating.
Small room suitability
Well suited to small rooms and suitable for some medium rooms up to 15 m²
Energy efficiency score
6/10 - thermostat control can help avoid unnecessary runtime, but no timer, smart control or stated star rating is provided
Noise level vs category average
Slightly above category average - the turbo fan is likely noisier than fan-free column heaters
Safety features score
5/10 - basic thermostat-controlled operation is provided, but no extra safety features are stated in the supplied specs
Portability rating
9/10 - lightweight design, integrated handles and castors make it easy to move and store
Key benefits
- 1.5kW Heating Power: Delivers solid heat output for small to medium rooms without stepping up to a larger heater.
- Oil-Free Design: Heats up quickly and is easier to move than heavier traditional oil-filled column heaters.
- Turbo Fan: Pushes warmth around the room faster than convection alone to take the chill off sooner.
- Adjustable Thermostat: Helps maintain your preferred room temperature by cycling the heater on and off as needed.
- Two Heat Settings: Lets you choose a lower or higher heat level to better match room conditions and comfort.
- Portable Build: Lightweight construction makes it easier to reposition around the home or caravan.
- Integrated Handles: Makes lifting and carrying simpler when moving the heater between rooms.
- Castors: Allows smooth rolling movement so you can relocate the heater with less effort.
Q: Can this heater be left on overnight in a bedroom
A: It can maintain room temperature by cycling on and off through the thermostat, which suits bedroom use better than constant full-power heating. It does not offer a sleep mode or timer, so overnight use comes down to your own safety preferences and setup.
Q: How expensive is the 1.5kW heater to run each hour
A: Dimplex ECR15FA draws 1.5kW on its highest setting, so the running cost depends on your electricity tariff and how often the thermostat cycles. In a smaller room, the thermostat can reduce constant full-power heating once the set temperature is reached.
Q: How quickly will this heater warm a small room
A: It is designed to warm faster than a traditional oil-filled column style because the oil-free body heats quickly and the turbo fan pushes warmth out sooner. It is still a 1.5kW heater, so larger or draughty rooms will take longer to feel evenly warm.
Q: Will the turbo fan be too noisy for a study
A: No, for most study or bedroom use it should be reasonable, but the turbo fan does add airflow noise that a fan-free column heater would not make. If quieter operation matters more than faster heat spread, use the heater without relying on the fan all the time.
Q: Does the ECR15FA have a timer for automatic shut-off
A: No. ECR15FA uses an adjustable thermostat and 2 heat settings rather than a timer program. That means it can cycle to hold temperature, but it cannot be set to switch itself off after a chosen number of hours.
Q: Is this Dimplex column heater a good option for caravans
A: Yes, its lightweight oil-free build, integrated handles and castors make it easier to move than a heavier oil-filled style, which suits caravan use. The trade-off is heating reach, as it is intended for spaces up to 15 square metres rather than larger shared areas.
