Delonghi 2.4kw Portable Air Conditioner
Although this was purchased a couple of weeks ago there has been little opportunity to use this portable aircon. It was purchased for a small guest room that is rarely used but hopefully will give my guests a more comfortable night. Easy to install and operate however would have liked a longer piece of infill for the window in this case.

Would Recommend
This portable air conditioner cools my small bedroom easily and quickly on >35 degree days. Easy to operate. I lifted the unit on top of some drawers so that the outlet hose can feed out of a window. If you don't have a sliding door or low windows, this is something to consider.

Serving its purpose
Enjoy the easy setup, easy operation and portability of the unit. It is a little on the noisy side and the outlet hose thing is definitely not long enough at 1.5mtr. Have been trying to source extension for it however so far no luck. My windows are a little higher than the average and when the unit need to be 60cm from wall this is not possible without extending.

Effective cooler
This cooler did the job when one of our inverters broke down during a heat wave. The unit is not super quiet, but not unbearable, it absolutely pumps out cool air and maintained a bed sit apartment beautifully. The bracket for mounting air intake in the window worked really well, easily modified to fit the right size. I recommend it.

At a glance
The DeLonghi 2.4kW Portable Air Conditioner is a practical option for cooling small to medium rooms up to 80m³, with added dehumidifying, remote control and easy room-to-room mobility. It suits households wanting flexible cooling without permanent installation. Its main limitation is noise up to 63dBA, which can be noticeable in quieter spaces such as bedrooms or study areas.

Things to consider
It offers solid cooling and dehumidifying for everyday home use, but louder operation and window venting requirements make it less discreet and less seamless than quieter premium split-system or higher-end portable models.
Room size suitability
Best suited to small to medium rooms up to 80m³
Portability rating
8/10 - built-in handles and castors make it easy to move, though 31.5kg means it is still relatively heavy
Noise level vs category average
5/10 - up to 63dBA is noticeable and around average to slightly loud for a portable air conditioner
Energy efficiency score
7/10 - supported by an Energy Class A rating, indicating solid efficiency for a 2.4kW portable unit
Ease of installation
7/10 - no permanent installation is needed and a window kit is included, but it still requires venting through a window or opening
Key benefits
- 2.4kW Cooling Capacity: Delivers effective cooling for small to medium rooms up to 80m³.
- Three Fan Speeds: Lets you adjust airflow between minimum, medium and maximum settings to suit changing comfort needs.
- Dehumidifier Function: Extracts up to 43L of moisture per 24 hours to help improve comfort in humid conditions.
- Portable Design with Handles and Castors: Makes it easier to move the unit between rooms as cooling needs change.
- Remote Control: Allows convenient temperature and mode adjustments from across the room.
- 24-Hour Timer: Helps schedule cooling around sleep, work or daily routines.
- Window Kit Included: Supports straightforward setup without permanent installation.
- Energy Class A Rating: Provides a recognised efficiency benchmark for portable cooling in its class.
Q: Will the window kit suit any window type?
A: No. The included window kit suits many common opening windows, but it will not suit every layout. The 120cm duct means the unit needs to stay near a window or other opening, which can be limiting with high or awkward windows.
Q: Is this portable air conditioner quiet enough for sleeping?
A: DeLonghi PACEM82K reaches 63dBA, so the sound is noticeable in a quiet bedroom. It can still suit buyers who prioritise cooling over silence, but it is not the best fit if low overnight noise is a key requirement.
Q: Can I use it in a room without a window?
A: No. DeLonghi PACEM82K must vent hot air through a window or other opening, so it cannot cool a fully sealed room correctly. The unit also needs to stay fairly close to that exit point because the duct length is 120cm.
Q: Does the DeLonghi PACEM82K also heat the room?
A: No. DeLonghi PACEM82K is a cooling-only portable air conditioner, so it does not have a heating mode for winter use. It does add fan and dehumidifying functions, which gives it some flexibility when full cooling is not needed.
Q: How hard is it to move between different rooms?
A: DeLonghi PACEM82K is easier to move than a fixed system because it has built-in handles and castors, but it still weighs 31.5kg. Rolling it between rooms on one level is practical, while lifting it up stairs takes more effort.
Q: Will it cool an open-plan living area effectively?
A: It can work in a smaller open-plan area if the total room volume is within 80m3. Large combined living, dining and kitchen spaces often exceed that, so cooling is usually more effective in a closed room or a clearly defined zone.
