surprisingly good energy efficient heater suitable for larger rooms
Nice heat. Turn it on an hour early to save energy and it will heat the room on low. Works well in our old stone cottage which was a surprise and is much cheaper and more comfortable than the existing gas heater.

I bought this for a family member who is extremely happy with it. It's ab excellent heater at a great price and It heats up the room in no time. I've used different brands in the past but still find the Delonghi to be the best value for money.

Excellent Heater for Confined Spaces
We were looking for a temporary heater to be used in the bedroom and in a confined location for temporary heating. This unit was recommended by the Store Senior Customer Service Staff Mr Darren (Narre Warren Store) as per our requirements and we were happy with his recommendation.

everything very good but thermostat would be improved with positive indication of setting by clicks or screen not just a vague movement on dial

At a glance
This 2400W DeLonghi oil column heater is a solid choice for households wanting steady, portable heating for bedrooms and living areas up to 70m2. Its strengths are adjustable heat settings, a 24-hour timer, thermostat control and a booster fan for faster warm-up. It suits medium to large spaces and daily routines well, but it is less convenient to move immediately after use because the unit can remain hot.
What it’s great for
- Whole-room heating
- Winter bedroom comfort
- Living area warming
- Scheduled daily heating
Where it works best
- Bedrooms
- Living rooms
- Medium homes
- Large rooms
Who it’s for
- Families
- Renters
- Homeowners
- People wanting timed room heating
Things to consider
Compared with premium panel or smart heaters, it does not offer Wi-Fi control, remote operation or app-based scheduling.
Small room suitability
Suitable, but better matched to medium and large rooms where its 2400W output is more useful
Energy efficiency score
6/10 - adjustable thermostat and three power settings help manage usage, but no stated energy rating or smart optimisation features are provided
Noise level vs category average
6/10 - generally quiet for an oil column heater, though the booster fan may add more noise than fan-free models
Safety features score
8/10 - includes a tip-over switch, safety thermostat and fin design intended to lower surface temperatures
Portability rating
7/10 - portable design with easy wheels and cord storage, though extra care is needed when moving it while hot
Key benefits
- 2400W Heating Power: Delivers strong output for warming medium to large rooms up to 70m2.
- 24-Hour Timer: Lets you schedule heating ahead of time for mornings, evenings or daily routines.
- Adjustable Thermostat: Helps maintain a steadier room temperature without constant manual changes.
- Three Power Settings: Gives you more control over warmth output to suit changing weather and room conditions.
- Booster Fan: Pushes warm air into the room faster to reduce the wait in cold spaces.
- Thermal Slots in Fins: Improves heat distribution while helping lower surface temperatures for added peace of mind.
- Castor Wheels: Makes it easier to move the heater between rooms when needed.
- Sealed Oil System: No refilling is required during normal use, keeping operation simple and low fuss.
Q: Is this heater suitable for open-plan living areas?
A: Yes, for enclosed areas within its rated room size of 70m². In large open-plan spaces with draughts or high ceilings, warmth can disperse more quickly, so it is better at maintaining heat than overcoming constant heat loss.
Q: How noisy is the booster fan on this oil heater?
A: The oil column itself runs quietly, but the booster fan adds audible airflow when switched on. It is useful for pushing warmth out faster at the start, though it will not be as quiet as using the heater without the fan.
Q: Can I leave the DeLonghi heater running on a timer overnight?
A: Yes, it has a 24-hour timer plus a safety thermostat and tip-over switch. It still needs clear floor placement and should not be covered or positioned where bedding, curtains or furniture can block airflow.
Q: Does the oil inside ever need refilling or replacing?
A: No. DL2401TF uses a sealed oil system, so there is no routine refilling or fuel handling during normal use. The trade-off is that, like most oil column heaters, it stores heat and can remain hot for a while after switching off.
Q: Is this a good choice for a bedroom heater?
A: Yes, this column heater suits bedrooms if you want steady heat without constant fan noise. The fan can be used to warm the room faster, then switched off, and the timer lets you schedule heating around a nightly or morning routine.
Q: Can this heater be moved straight after use?
A: No. DL2401TF has castor wheels for portability, but care is needed if the unit has been running because the body can stay hot. Move it by the handles once it has cooled enough to relocate safely between rooms.
