At a glance
The Crest Compact Rechargeable Motion Sensor Light is a small, USB-rechargeable light designed for wardrobes, cupboards, pantries and stair edges where quick guidance lighting is useful. It suits households wanting simple installation without hardwiring or disposable batteries. Key strengths are motion-activated convenience, compact placement and easy recharging. Its main limitation is modest 50-lumen output, so it is better for short trips and small spaces than room lighting.
What it’s great for
- Night-time guidance lighting
- Wardrobes and cupboards
- Pantry visibility
- Stair edge lighting
- Short hallway lighting
Where it works best
- Wardrobes
- Cupboards
- Pantries
- Stair edges
- Short hall sections
- Small household spaces
Who it’s for
- Households
- Renters
- Families
- Seniors
- Anyone needing simple guidance lighting in small spaces
Things to consider
With 50 lumens and up to 5 hours per charge, it is suited to small-area guidance lighting rather than brighter, longer-running lighting for larger rooms or extended overnight use.
Child suitability
Suitable for general family use in low-reach household spaces, but best positioned thoughtfully around young children due to its rechargeable battery design.
Energy efficiency score
8/10 - USB rechargeable design and 50-lumen guidance output support low-power, occasional-use lighting.
Portability rating
9/10 - compact cordless design makes it easy to place and move between small spaces.
Brightness vs category average
Below average - 50 lumens is well suited to guidance lighting, but dimmer than many larger night lights and under-cabinet lights.
Ease of use score
9/10 - simple On, Off and Auto controls plus USB charging make day-to-day use straightforward.
Key benefits
- Motion Sensor Activation: Turns on when movement is detected, helping light short night-time trips in small spaces.
- USB Rechargeable Battery: The built-in 600mAh lithium battery recharges by USB, reducing the need for disposable batteries.
- Up to 5 Hours Runtime: Provides up to 5 hours of use per charge for regular short-duration lighting needs.
- On/Off/Auto Switch: Lets you choose constant light, fully off, or motion-sensing operation to match the space and task.
- Compact Size: Fits neatly in tight areas such as cupboards, wardrobes and stair edges where larger lights may be awkward.
- 50-Lumen Output: Delivers clear guidance lighting for nearby visibility without aiming to replace main room lighting.
- No Hardwiring Needed: Offers flexible placement in spots that need extra light without permanent electrical installation.
- 1-Year Manufacturer's Warranty: Adds reassurance for everyday household use.
Q: Is 50 lumens enough for a wardrobe or pantry?
A: Yes. The 50-lumen output is suited to small spaces such as wardrobes, cupboards and pantries where you only need short-range visibility. It is guidance lighting, so it is not intended to light a whole room or deep storage area.
Q: Can this light replace a normal hallway or room light?
A: No. Crest PWL04M is designed for stair edges and short hall sections rather than full room lighting. Its compact size and 50-lumen output suit wayfinding at night, not bright, even illumination across a larger space.
Q: Do I need wiring or disposable batteries to use it?
A: No. Crest PWL04M runs on a built-in 600mAh rechargeable lithium battery and charges by USB, so there is no hardwiring and no disposable batteries to buy. That makes it easier to place in cupboards, wardrobes and other small spots.
Q: Will the battery last if I leave it on constantly?
A: Yes, but runtime is limited in constant On mode. Crest PWL04M runs for up to 5 hours per charge, so continuous use suits short tasks or temporary lighting rather than all-night use in place of a mains-powered light.
Q: Is it a good choice for stair edges at night?
A: Yes. Crest PWL04M is designed for stair edges and gives enough light for short trips in low-light areas. It is better for marking the edge and nearby floor than for lighting an entire staircase from top to bottom.
Q: Can I move it between cupboards and wardrobes easily?
A: Yes. The compact body, rechargeable battery and no-wiring design make Crest PWL04M easy to relocate as needed. It suits renters or anyone adding light to small spaces without making a permanent installation.
