Keeps things tidy.
Having bought this as a necessary extra to my new Breville Barista Pro, I found there was one in the box with the coffee machine. Never mind, it’s an essential item for perfect coffee dosing and for a clean work area.

A simple easy to use funnel
This is a must have for your porta filter when grinding coffee. It fits easily where the porta filter goes under the grinders outlet to stop the grinds from making a mess on your drip tray. A quick twist and the dosing funnel will lock into place, this is also great for using your WDT prior to distributing and tamping your puck. Something so simple that just works.

A Must have
The dosing funnel made by Breville for Breville is an excellent choice. It enables a clean dose loading and settling of the dose in the portafilter for a small price. Anyone who is conversant with loading from grinder to portafilter will appreciate this little tool.

At a glance

It helps keep coffee grounds contained while dosing and tamping, making preparation cleaner and easier. The BPA-free, dishwasher-safe design suits everyday use well. Its main limitation is narrow compatibility, as it does not fit 58 mm portafilters or non-Breville baskets.

Things to consider

Breville 54 mm portafilters, including selected BES870, BES878 and BES880 models; not compatible with 58 mm portafilters or non-Breville baskets

Ease of use
9/10 - simple to attach and remove, with a workflow designed around dosing, tamping and detaching in one sequence

Key benefits
- 54 mm fitment: Attaches securely to compatible Breville 54 mm portafilters for a more stable dosing and tamping setup.
- Mess reduction: Helps keep coffee grounds inside the basket area for a tidier bench during espresso preparation.
- Waste reduction: Keeps loose grounds more contained so less coffee is lost during dosing and distribution.
- Attach, dose, tamp and detach workflow: Supports a simpler preparation routine without needing to remove the accessory between key steps.
- BPA-free construction: Offers added peace of mind for a coffee accessory used regularly in food preparation.
- Dishwasher-safe design: Makes cleanup easier after daily espresso sessions.
- Breville machine compatibility: Matches selected Breville BES870, BES878 and BES880 machines for straightforward integration into existing setups.
- Home-use focus: Well suited to everyday espresso routines where cleaner dosing and less bench mess are priorities.
Q: Will this fit a Breville Barista Pro portafilter?
A: Yes. Breville The Dosing Funnel is designed to fit Breville 54mm portafilters, including the BES878 Barista Pro. It is made for Breville baskets only, so it is not the right choice for non-Breville baskets or 58mm setups.
Q: Can I use it with a 58mm portafilter?
A: No. Breville The Dosing Funnel is built for Breville 54mm portafilters and is not compatible with 58mm portafilters. It is also intended for Breville baskets rather than non-Breville baskets, so fitment is deliberately narrow.
Q: Does the dosing funnel stay on for tamping?
A: Yes. The funnel is designed for an attach, dose, tamp and detach workflow, so it can stay on a compatible Breville 54mm portafilter during tamping. That helps keep loose grounds contained instead of spilling around the basket.
Q: Does it lock onto the portafilter or just sit on top?
A: It attaches to compatible Breville 54mm portafilters rather than resting loosely on the basket. That more secure fit suits dosing and tamping in one workflow, but the funnel is still limited to selected Breville machines and baskets.
Q: Does it help reduce coffee grounds spilling during dosing?
A: Yes. The funnel sits on compatible Breville 54mm portafilters to keep coffee grounds more contained while you dose and tamp. It is designed to reduce mess and waste, but it will not correct grind size, distribution or tamping technique.
Q: Is it dishwasher safe after daily coffee prep?
A: Yes. Breville The Dosing Funnel is dishwasher safe, so cleanup is straightforward after regular espresso prep. The material is also BPA-free, and the accessory is made for Breville 54mm portafilters rather than broader multi-brand use.
