At a glance
This Bosch Series 2 freestanding dishwasher is a practical full-size option for families or couples who want dependable everyday dishwashing with room for 13 place settings. Its strengths are flexible program choices, quiet EcoSilence Drive operation and AquaStop leak protection. A fair limitation is that it lacks Wi-Fi connectivity and the quieter, more advanced features found on higher-end models.
What it’s great for
- Everyday Family Dishwashing
- Medium to Large Loads
- Mixed Dishes and Cookware
- Overnight Cleaning
Where it works best
- Family Kitchen
- Apartment Kitchen
- Rental Home
- Everyday Household Use
Who it’s for
- Families
- Couples
- Busy Households
- Value-Focused Buyers
Things to consider
At 50 dB, it is not as quiet as premium dishwashers, and it does not include Wi-Fi or more advanced basket flexibility found higher up the range.
Family use suitability
8/10 - 13 place settings and flexible programs make it well suited to regular family meal clean-up.
Energy efficiency score
6/10 - 3.0 star energy rating is solid for everyday use, but below stronger performers in the category.
Ease of loading rating
7/10 - full-size 13 place setting capacity is practical, though the basic basket system is less adaptable than premium models.
Noise level vs category average
6/10 - 50 dB is reasonably quiet for general use, but louder than many newer premium dishwashers.
Installation flexibility
Freestanding 60cm design suits kitchens needing a standard full-size dishwasher without built-in integration.
Key benefits
- 13 Place Settings: Handles family-sized loads so you can wash more in one cycle.
- Six Wash Programs: Gives you practical cleaning options for everyday dishes, heavier loads and more tailored washing.
- Extra Dry: Improves drying performance for items that often come out damp, such as plastics.
- Speed Perfect: Shortens suitable wash cycles when you need clean dishes sooner.
- Five Spray Levels: Helps distribute water more thoroughly across the load for better overall coverage.
- Dosage Assist: Helps detergent dissolve effectively for more consistent cleaning results.
- EcoSilence Drive: Designed for quieter, reliable operation at 50 dB.
- AquaStop: Adds peace of mind with leak protection against water damage.
Q: Will this Bosch dishwasher fit under a standard kitchen benchtop?
A: Yes, in most standard kitchens. Bosch SMS26AI03A is 845mm high, 600mm wide and 600mm deep, which suits a typical 60cm freestanding dishwasher space. Allow extra room for the door swing, hoses and ventilation clearance.
Q: How quiet is the Bosch SMS26AI03A in everyday use?
A: Bosch SMS26AI03A runs at 50 dB(A), so it is audible but not especially intrusive in an open-plan kitchen. It is better suited to normal daytime or evening use than buyers who want a very low-noise dishwasher for late-night cycles.
Q: Does this dishwasher have Wi-Fi or Bosch Home Connect?
A: No. Bosch SMS26AI03A does not support Wi-Fi or Home Connect, so cycles are started and monitored from the control panel on the machine. That suits buyers who prefer straightforward controls, but there is no app control or remote status check.
Q: Are plastics likely to come out fully dry after a cycle?
A: Not always. Bosch SMS26AI03A uses an inherent heat drying system, so ceramic and glass usually dry better than light plastic items. The Extra Dry option can help with harder-to-dry loads, but some plastic containers may still need a quick wipe.
Q: Is the brushed steel finish easy to keep looking clean?
A: Yes. Bosch SMS26AI03A has a brushed steel anti-fingerprint finish, so it is less prone to showing marks than plain stainless surfaces. It still needs routine wiping, especially around the handle and controls where oils and water spots collect.
