So far so great!
Bought this mainly for the car and who knows, the animal fur tool may come in useful later. Very happy with this online purchase, powerful suction and extendable head helps reach into all the nooks and crannies and easy to empty and clean the filter.

Excellent vacuum cleaner
This unit is very well built, made of high-quality materials. It has plenty of power to clean the car carpets and interior. For the difficult stubborn dirt particles, the boost mode really picks up well. It is light and easy to fit into the charging cradle and very quick to grab the unit and go. Also good for picking up the small amount of dust and dirt from the floor inside the house. Excellent unit that I can highly recommend.

Absolutely love this little gem
Have been looking at handhelds for a while and bought a couple of cheap crappy ones but decided to buy one that'll work better and last longer. It is fantastic for those little accidents, having 2 options with the head and the extender is great for nooks and crannies and I also love it for cleaning the car, it really is a gem and super easy to clean too, extra bonus points there...

At a glance
This cordless handheld vacuum is a practical choice for pet owners and busy households needing fast clean-ups on floors, furniture and in the car. Its powered pet brush, integrated crevice tool and 700 mL dust bowl make spot cleaning convenient. Smart battery and filter alerts add ease of use. The main limitation is that it is built for short cleaning sessions, not whole-home vacuuming.

Things to consider

Pet hair performance score
8/10 - powered pet brush and handheld format make it well suited to removing hair from upholstery, rugs and carpets.
Car cleaning suitability
8/10 - cordless use and the integrated crevice tool make it practical for seats, footwells and tight interior spaces.
Portability rating
9/10 - compact cordless handheld design is easy to carry and use around the home or in the car.
Battery endurance rating
7/10 - up to 25 minutes is solid for spot cleaning, though shorter than some longer-running alternatives.
Ease of emptying
8/10 - the 700 mL dust bowl reduces how often you need to empty it during quick cleaning tasks.
Key benefits
- Powered Pet Brush: Helps lift pet hair from carpets, rugs, upholstery and curtains more effectively than a basic nozzle alone.
- Integrated Crevice Tool: Reaches tight spaces like corners, skirting boards and between car seats without needing separate attachments.
- 700 mL Dust Bowl: Gives you more cleaning time between empties during everyday spot-cleaning tasks.
- Up to 25-Minute Runtime: Supports short cordless cleaning sessions for quick spills, pet hair and car interiors.
- Washable Air Filter: Helps maintain suction over time and reduces the need for frequent filter replacements.
- Smart Tech LED Panel: Shows battery charge status and filter cleaning alerts so maintenance is easier to stay on top of.
- Cordless 18V Design: Makes it easier to move from room to room and clean cars or stairs without a power cord.
- Wall Mount or Table Charger: Offers flexible storage and charging options to keep the vacuum ready for everyday use.
Q: Can this handheld replace a full-size vacuum for pet hair?
A: No. BLACK & DECKER BHHV520BFP-XE is better as a quick clean-up vacuum for furniture, stairs, car interiors and small carpeted areas. Its handheld design and up to 25 minutes on a charge are not intended for whole-home deep cleaning.
Q: How long can it clean before needing to recharge?
A: BLACK & DECKER BHHV520BFP-XE runs for up to 25 minutes on a single charge. That suits crumbs, upholstery, stairs and a car interior, but longer cleaning sessions around the whole house will usually need a recharge.
Q: Does the powered pet brush work well on sofas and car seats?
A: Yes. The detachable powered pet brush is designed to lift hair from upholstery, rugs, carpets and curtains, so it suits sofas and fabric car seats well. It is most useful for hair and surface debris rather than large-area floor cleaning.
Q: Will the built-in crevice tool reach tight spots in the car?
A: Yes. The integral crevice tool is made for narrow gaps such as between car seats, along skirting boards and into corners. Because it is built in, there is no separate narrow nozzle to swap over or misplace during quick clean-ups.
Q: What does the 700ml dust bowl mean in everyday use?
A: A 700ml dust bowl gives this handheld more room than very small quick-clean vacuums, so you can handle several spot-cleaning jobs before emptying. It is practical for crumbs, pet hair and car mess, but it is still not a bin for full-room cleaning.
Q: Is the filter washable, or do you replace it after cleaning?
A: The air filter is washable, so routine maintenance does not mean replacing it after every clean. BLACK & DECKER BHHV520BFP-XE also has an LED alert for filter cleaning, which helps you keep suction performance more consistent over time.
