    Worth buying second pair

I purchased this model of headphones just over two years ago. Was so pleased with them, that I have a second pair of this very same model. I can charge one when its battery is empty and use the other one so that I am not missing out when I do need headphones. When the built-in (non-user-replaceable) battery in the first pair has finally been exhausted, I will still have another pair of these headphones. I wanted headphones where I have the flexibility to listen both wired and wireless. I am not interested in noise cancellation, so I am not missing out on this feature. I can charge from anywhere that has a USB-A port. There has been no problem of tightness with either headphones. They feel fine on the head and ears. The sound has been fine for me, whether listening to verbal discussion or music. I just wish The Good Guys had the white one, so I could distinguish from a distance which is which. Only one minor issue is the wearing out of the ear cuffs (peeling off of the cuff material) occurring after some time with a lot of use. This is not a major issue as it does not affect fit/comfort over ears or sound quality, and is what only I as the user notice. Overall, highly recommended, especially as they are not overly expensive.

    Microphone is terrible

Pros: Sound is fine, and the headset is comfortable. Cons: You can't charge the headset while it's in use. The microphone produces a high pitch noise on 's' sounds in speech for anyone unfortunate enough to be listening in a voice call.

The main limitation is the lack of active noise cancelling.

Things to consider

It does not include active noise cancelling, so it is less effective than premium travel headphones in loud trains, flights or busy offices.

Noise cancelling effectiveness

2/10 - No active noise cancelling is listed, so noise reduction will rely mainly on the over-ear fit.

All-day comfort score

7/10 - Over-ear design is suitable for longer sessions, though comfort may not match more premium lightweight models.

Commuter suitability

7/10 - Strong battery life and wireless convenience suit daily travel, but lack of ANC limits performance in noisier environments.

Audiophile vs casual fit

Best suited to casual listeners and everyday users who want balanced, studio-inspired sound rather than specialist audiophile tuning.

Multi-device flexibility

High - Multipoint Bluetooth supports two connected devices, and the included 1.2 m cable adds a wired listening option.

Key benefits

  • 60-hour battery life: Delivers up to 60 hours of continuous use on a full charge, making it ideal for multi-day listening between charges.
  • Rapid charging: A 10-minute USB-C rapid charge provides up to 3 hours of use when you need a quick top-up.
  • 40 mm drivers: Helps deliver full-range, high-fidelity sound with enhanced bass for music, videos and general listening.
  • Multipoint pairing: Lets you stay connected to two Bluetooth devices at once, so switching between phone and laptop is easier.
  • Low latency mode: Improves audio and video sync for smoother streaming and more responsive casual gaming.
  • Built-in microphone: Makes it easier to take calls and handle voice chat without reaching for a separate mic.
  • On-ear controls: Buttons on the left earcup give quick access to calls, playback, volume and mute.
  • 1.2 m audio cable included: Allows wired listening when preferred or when battery charging is needed.

Q: What is the difference between the Audio Technica M20x and the M20xBT?

A: The M20xBT adds Bluetooth wireless listening, multipoint pairing, a built-in microphone, low latency mode and USB-C charging. It also includes a 1.2 m cable, so it can still be used wired like the standard M20x when needed.

Q: Are the Audio Technica M20xBT headphones a good option for gaming and video streaming?

A: Yes, they include a low latency mode that helps keep sound and picture better aligned during streaming and gaming. For the most stable connection and the lowest delay, the included 1.2 m cable is still the better choice.

Q: Can the Audio Technica M20xBT be used with a cable if the battery runs low?

A: Yes, a 1.2 m audio cable is included, so the headphones can be used as a wired pair when preferred or if the battery is low. That is useful for longer sessions at a desk where Bluetooth charging breaks are less convenient.

Q: How does multipoint pairing work on the Audio Technica M20xBT?

A: Multipoint pairing lets the M20xBT stay connected to two Bluetooth devices at the same time, such as a laptop and a phone. That makes it easier to switch between music, video and incoming calls without repairing each device.

Q: Does the Audio Technica M20xBT have noise cancelling?

A: No, this model does not use active noise cancelling. It relies on its over-ear, closed-back design for passive isolation, which can reduce some surrounding noise but will not block low background sounds as effectively as ANC headphones.

Q: Is the built-in microphone on the Audio Technica M20xBT suitable for calls and online meetings?

A: Yes, the built-in microphone is designed for everyday calls and basic online meetings, with controls on the left earcup for call handling and volume. It is practical for general voice chat, but not a substitute for a dedicated studio mic.
