Excellent Entry Level Turntable
The sound is impressively clear and well‑balanced when paired with my Edifier speakers. Setup wasn’t difficult at all (although there were just diagrams with not much description). Bluetooth wireless connectivity is also very convenient. I got the best possible price at The Good Guys with their Price Beat offer, so it was great value for money. So far, it’s the best money I’ve spent.

At a glance
The Audio Technica LP60XBT is a compact fully automatic turntable designed for easy home vinyl listening and wireless audio streaming. It suits beginners, casual listeners and smaller rooms, with simple setup, Bluetooth 5.0 with aptX, and a built-in phono preamp. Its main limitation is that it offers less manual adjustment and upgrade flexibility than more audiophile-focused turntables.
What it’s great for
- Casual Vinyl Listening
- Wireless Music Streaming
- Easy First Turntable Setup
- Small-Space Home Audio
Where it works best
- Bedroom
- Living Room
- Apartment
- Small Home Listening Area
Who it’s for
- Beginner Vinyl Listener
- Casual Music Fan
- Apartment Dweller
- Home Listener
Things to consider
This model prioritises convenience and simplicity over fine-tuning, so it is less suited to listeners wanting advanced cartridge upgrades, tonearm adjustments or more hands-on audiophile control.
Beginner vs audiophile fit
Beginner-focused with casual-listening appeal; less suited to dedicated audiophile system tuning.
Home audio integration score
9/10 - Bluetooth output and a switchable built-in phono preamp make it easy to use with modern speakers, headphones and receivers.
Portability rating
7/10 - Compact size suits smaller rooms and easier repositioning, though it is still primarily a stationary home audio component.
Vinyl preservation suitability
8/10 - Automatic operation, improved tracking support and a replaceable diamond stylus make it well suited to everyday record care when used correctly.
Key benefits
- Fully Automatic Operation: Starts and stops playback with minimal effort, making day-to-day record listening easier for beginners.
- Bluetooth 5.0 with aptX: Streams vinyl wirelessly to compatible speakers or headphones for cleaner placement and cable-free listening.
- Up to 10 m Wireless Range: Gives practical flexibility to place compatible Bluetooth audio devices around a room.
- Switchable Built-In Phono Preamp: Connects directly to powered speakers or receivers, helping simplify setup in home systems.
- Belt-Drive Design: Helps reduce motor noise transfer for smoother, more relaxed listening at home.
- Anti-Resonance Die-Cast Aluminium Platter: Supports more stable playback by helping limit unwanted vibration.
- Redesigned Tonearm Base: Improves tracking support and helps reduce resonance during playback.
- Replaceable Diamond Stylus: Helps maintain record care over time and allows stylus replacement when worn.
Q: Do I need a separate phono preamp or amplifier for this turntable
A: No. Audio Technica LP60XBT has a switchable built-in phono preamp, so it can connect directly to powered speakers or a compatible receiver. A separate external phono stage is only needed if you prefer to use one instead.
Q: Can the LP60XBT connect to Bluetooth speakers and headphones
A: Yes. Audio Technica LP60XBT streams over Bluetooth 5.0 and supports aptX with compatible audio gear. Wireless use suits cleaner placement, but pairing still depends on the speaker or headphones supporting standard Bluetooth audio.
Q: How far can Bluetooth audio reach from the turntable
A: Audio Technica LP60XBT supports wireless audio within a 10 metre range in typical home use. Walls, furniture and other wireless traffic can reduce stability, so the most reliable pairing is usually in the same room.
Q: Will this turntable play my 78 RPM records
A: No. Audio Technica LP60XBT plays 33 1/3 and 45 RPM records only. It suits standard LPs and singles, but shellac 78s need a turntable designed for that speed and the correct stylus.
Q: Can I upgrade parts later or is it mostly fixed
A: It is mostly a simple, ready-to-use deck rather than a platform for heavy tweaking. Audio Technica LP60XBT gives you a replaceable diamond stylus, but it has fewer manual adjustments and upgrade pathways than higher-end turntables.
