Samsung Set To Introduce Us To A New Standard When It Comes To Televisions

July 18, 2025-3 min read

Samsung’s latest TVs aim to make 8K practical, with sharper picture quality, smart AI upscaling and features that suit gaming, streaming and bright living rooms. The range also brings more connected-home smarts and a cleaner setup with fewer cables.

Key takeaways from this article

  • 8K offers twice the detail of 4K and a much bigger screen experience.

  • AI upscaling helps non-8K content look better on Samsung’s premium models.

  • QLED is brighter than OLED, making it a strong fit for sunny rooms.

  • Gaming fans get high refresh rates and 8K support on next-gen consoles.

  • Multi View, voice assistants and One Remote add convenience at home.

Move aside 4K TV — 8K is the future. And for the first time, it is affordable and easy to get.

In a nutshell, 8K is double the resolution of 4K, or 16 times the resolution of Full HD. It also means you can have a much larger TV or squeeze in an extra row of seats in the “front stalls” during movie night without compromising anyone’s viewing.

Although there is not a lot of 8K content around now, there will be in the not-too-distant future – and the more people who have 8K TVs, the more 8K content will be created.

Gamers planning on upgrading to the Xbox Series X or the PlayStation 5 later this year will also benefit from an 8K TV, with both consoles to be capable of 8K gaming. Samsung’s top models even have a refresh rate of 200Hz, making them ideal for games and sports.Even without a lot of native 8K, anything you watch on these incredibly beautiful TVs will simply look better thanks to the AI upscaling technology, which truly has to be seen to be believed.

What To Know About QLED

All the talk of OLED, ULED and now QLED, can seem confusing. Quantum Light-Emitting Diode (QLED) is a quantum dot display. It is fairly similar to a regular LED display in that it uses a backlight, but it uses quantum dot nanoparticles to make the colour and brightness much better. Having the backlight makes the screens even brighter than OLED.

QLED TVs are therefore better suited to bright rooms (if you are lucky enough to have floor-to-ceiling windows) and display HDR better because that technology relies so much on brightness.

That doesn’t mean you can’t get very close to the black quality of OLED TVs. With a direct fully array backlight, the TV is much better able to regulate the amount of light anywhere in the TV, keeping the blacks black and the whites white without any bleeding between them.

Samsung TV Smart Features

Picture-in-picture is a feature that got viewers really excited in the ’90s. You could watch two tiny TV shows on a tiny screen at the same time, which seemed like magic back then. But with many of us now looking at our phones while watching TV or playing games, Samsung has introduced Multi View, enabling you to easily cast your phone’s screen to the side of whatever you are watching. This allows you to actually see what is on the TV, while doing all the multi-tasking that currently requires you to stare at the much smaller, cheaper screen in your hand.

Many TVs in the new Samsung range even feature three smart assistants — Bixby (Samsung’s own), Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant — so you’ll be able to use your TV to control the other smart devices in your home or vice versa.

The flagship TVs also come with just one cable, box and remote control. There is just one thin, clear cable going into the TV, while your devices can be plugged into the box handily hidden in your TV cabinet. Meanwhile, Samsung’s One Remote controls not only your TV but almost any device you might plug into it.

Key Benefits Of Samsung TVs

  • More smart features and assistant options than ever before.

  • Airplay and Chromecast for household with both iPhones and Androids.

  • Multi View viewing so you don’t miss a thing while multi-tasking.

  • QLED lets you watch TV comfortably on a sunny day without sacrificing quality.
