#1 Fruit Mince Pies

Is it even Christmas if you don’t have some traditional fruit mince pies on the table? Throw your favourite dried fruits and spices between two layers of shortcrust pastry in mini pie tins, brush with a little egg white, and pop in the air fryer for 15 mins at 160°C. Remove when the pastry is golden, and sprinkle with icing sugar to finish. Don’t forget to leave one or two out for Santa on Christmas Eve!

#2 Stuffed Mushrooms

When it comes to easy air fryer recipes, this one’s a goodie. Instead of stuffing those Christmas stockings, stuff a few large mushies instead! Remove the stalks from your mushrooms and fill the caps with a mixture of cream cheese, shredded cheddar, diced spring onion or spinach leaves. All it takes is 8 mins in the air fryer at 180°C, and they’re ready to go.

“Cooking a festive feast for the whole family is no simple feat, but you can count on an air fryer to make dishing up Christmas lunch or dinner a whole lot easier – and healthier!”

#3 Mini Quiches

When it comes to air fryer canapés, these mini quiches should go to the top of your Christmas list. Lightly bake some tart shells in your air fryer for 3 mins at 180°C; take them out and let cool. Fill shells with a mixture of egg, cream, veggies, ham, cheese and seasoning. Place the filled shells into your air fryer basket and cook until the egg filling puffs up and the crusts turn a golden brown. Yum!

#4 Sticky Chicken Bites

These tasty chicken bites are like Christmas presents for your mouth, so be sure to cook enough for everyone. Simply coat diced chicken breast pieces in a mixture of soy sauce, oyster sauce and vinegar. Next, coat them in corn flour seasoned with paprika and garlic powder. Spray with oil, add some diced spring onion and cook the bites in your air fryer at 180℃ for 10 to 15 mins, or until cooked through. Decorate with sesame seeds, if desired. Lip smackin’ good!

#5 Quick Prawns

Christmas in Australia is often a celebration of summer and seafood. But instead of throwing another shrimp (or prawn) on the barbie, how about putting them in the air fryer instead? Simply mix prawns, butter, lemon juice, garlic, cumin or paprika in a large bowl. Place prawns in an air fryer basket and cook at 180°C for 8 mins, tossing halfway. Serve with an extra squeeze of lemon juice for a jolly Aussie Christmas.

#6 Sausage Rolls

No party is complete without the king of all party appetisers – the sausage roll. Dig out your favourite sausage roll recipe and make them as you normally would – think puff pastry, mince meat and seasoning all rolled into a neat package. Cut into small rolls and cook in the air fryer at 200℃ for 10 to 12 mins, or until golden. Serve with a side of homemade tomato relish. You may want to make a couple of batches as these will fly off the table.

#7 Cheese Bites

Feta, halloumi, mozzarella – whatever your cheese preference, you can try it with this recipe. First cut the cheese into sticks or bite-size pieces, then coat with flour, beaten egg and seasoned bread crumbs. Coat again with egg and crumbs. Spray bites with olive oil, then place in an air fryer basket and cook at 180℃ for 5-10 mins, or until golden. Our preference is Babybel cheese – for what would Christmas be without baby Cheeses? Get it?!

#8 Apple Chips

For air fryer canapés with a sweet twist, you can't beat these apple chips. Cut two crisp variety apples, such as a Granny Smiths or Pink Ladies, into thin slices (the thinner the better). Line apple slices in an air fryer basket in a single layer, trying to avoid overlap. Bake at 170°C for about 12 mins, flipping them over a few times throughout. Crunchy like a candy cane – but way better for you!

Once you start cooking in an air fryer, you won’t be able to stop. From Christmas canapés to dinner parties and everyday meals, this is one small kitchen appliance you won’t want to live without.
