Surprisingly good for everyday use
I picked these up from The Good Guys Hoppers Crossing and honestly wasn't expecting much of an upgrade from older AirPods, but these have been a solid surprise. The fit is noticeably better than previous generations. They're incredibly light at just over 4 grams, and despite having no ear tips, they stayed comfortable during long commutes and study sessions. The redesigned shape sits more securely in the ear than I expected. Sound quality is a clear step up. The bass is deeper and fuller than older models, and everything from music to podcasts comes through cleanly without distortion. The Adaptive EQ adjusts well depending on what you're listening to, and spatial audio adds a nice sense of depth when watching content on my iPhone. The active noise cancellation genuinely impressed me, especially since there are no silicone tips creating a seal. It doesn't completely block out the world, but it handles background noise on the train and in busy environments well enough to stay focused. Transparency mode is also useful when you need to stay aware of your surroundings without taking them out. Pairing with iPhone was instant and effortless — one of those things Apple just does right. The case is compact enough to fit anywhere, and USB-C charging is a welcome addition. The only things I'd flag: battery life on a single charge is modest (around 4–5 hours), and the non-magnetic wireless charging feels like a small step backward. If fit is a concern, it really depends on your ear shape, they work great for me, but your experience may vary. Overall, for the price point and the features on offer, these are the best standard AirPods Apple has made. A genuine upgrade worth picking up.
