  Reliable, No-Fuss DVD Drive That Gets the Job Done

  I picked up the ASUS Zen USB-C & A External Optical Drive mainly to get files off my old DVDs. I probably could’ve gone with a cheaper drive, but I’ve used ASUS products before and they’ve always been more dependable, so I stuck with what I trust. It’s compact, clean-looking, and easy to carry around, and it doesn’t feel cheap at all. The disc tray is solid and steady, not flimsy or awkward when opening and closing, which I really appreciated when dealing with older discs. The tech is clearly from an older era, so I wasn’t expecting fast speeds — and that’s fine. The read speed feels true to when DVDs were actually popular, which worked perfectly for copying my old photos and videos. It is slow by today’s standards, but consistent and reliable. I didn’t test the write speed since I only needed to pull data from old DVDs. Overall, it’s a reliable, no-fuss drive that does exactly what I needed it to do.

  Chris Rea at Christmas

  For the last 35 years I’ve listened to Chris Rea’s music at Christmas time. When I worked at the Broncos Leagues club and driving home at Christmas are used to listen to his CD. “ let’s dance.” on my way home and of course it featured the soul “ driving home at Christmas”. The DVD player in my PC would cost more to buy an installed then purchasing a remote CD player. So thank you to your husband for selecting this one for me.. he actually gave his dad one of these so it comes recommended.
